About the project
Bahia 50 is an apartment project designed by architect Eduardo Leñero in 2019. Located in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, the five-story building is focused on maximizing natural light and visual connection with the outdoors through floor-to-ceiling windows.
Facade and Exterior Structure
The massing of the building follows a clear grid. The main facade is clad in light stone finishes that frame each level, contrasting with the wood used at the ground-floor entrance. Every apartment has a linear balcony with black metal railings, giving the structure rhythm and depth. The top floor is crowned by a rooftop terrace surrounded by greenery.
Interior Design and Rooftop
The interiors embrace strong contrasts. The social area is an open space where the kitchen stands out with dark wood cabinets, stainless steel appliances and a continuous white marble counter with gray veining. This space connects directly with the living room, which adds touches of color through green and mustard furniture over neutral finishes.
The bedrooms shift to a warmer atmosphere, with textured terracotta walls and natural wood furniture. Outside, the rooftop is the main common area, with a wood deck, concrete planters, lounge areas under a steel pergola and a pool clad in blue mosaic tile.
